Sound Card Issues & Other Stuff

Hey guys:

You guys say you live in TWO DIFFERENT COUNTRIES (heard that in the intro)? Could've fooled me as it doesn't even sound like you're TWO ROOMS away, let alone in two different countries.

Anyhow, I have a fully licensed version of Cool Edit 2000 which I use to record podcasts (Yeah yeah, I know what people are saying about Audacity). It's an old program, but it gets the job done just as efficiently and affectively. If you can somehow find a copy of it somewhere and know of someone who'd be willing to give you their old license, maybe you could use Cool Edit to record with instead.

It records Skype calls just as good as the built-in Windows Recorder itself would (better in fact with the audio quality).

You guys also say you're blindcasters? I've got a friend in Philly whom I've been trying to get into podcasting, but so far he won't budge (he doesn't like to be "tethered" as it were to a cord, though keep telling him he could do it with an iRiver or similar device just about anywhere or a laptop and a wireless mic in the middle of a park). Perhaps you might know him from some of your blind discussion lists? His name is Bill.

Anyhow, you guys sound really cool together (almost like Dawn & Drew, only without the kinky talk that Dawn likes to get into). Your intro sounds great. I don't think I'd change it.

Just wanted to leave my $.02 worth. :)

Cheers for now :)

Recording the podcast

Hi Pat. Yes, we do live in two different countries, Holly lives in the US, and I live in Canada. She's currently visiting though, so we are indeed recording in the same room. We're using the Iriver and the stereo Mic for the last couple of podcasts, and I've been quite happy with the results.
When she's at home, I use sound forge to record the podcasts. I've got a sound blaster, and the on-board sound on my mother board, so I've got a patch cord running between them. I heard that Total recorder could record Skype without the use of two cards, but so far I've had little to no luck with it.
Thanks for listening, hope you'll stay subscribed.
Darcy

keep up the good work

******* Mickey Quenzer *******Hello Darcy and Holly!

Keep up the good work, the quality of your shows are getting better. Only comment is that when you record the intro again, please put the comment line number in at the beginning of the show. The IRiver does a good job for you when you are both together!

Holly, I'm glad that things are working out with Walker! It's neat to here about him during the show!

It was fun to here you guys with the ponder place podcasters. Your microphone sounded better then theirs!
