First of all, I've been exposed to country music from the Fifties and Sixties, although I'm no fan of the music. Yes, it seems many of the hit songs are concerned with being all bummed out over a lost love. I find it amusing that it's mostly done by male singers who are doing all the crying and carrying on when they're supposed to be all tough and macho. Go figure. But before we throw country music into the trash, don't forget what I call teen death anthems. We're talking about those songs where one or both of them get into a car accident or are shot by a disapproving father or who otherwise give up their lives for their love. Teen Angel or Tell Laura I Love Her are good examples, oh, and let's not forget Last Kiss, either the original or that version Pearljam did back a bit ago. I suggest you find I Want My Baby Back by Jimmy Cross for a bit of macabre comic relief.
As for how often y'all do a podcast, don't worry about it. I personally figure you're doing other things you enjoy doing together, and keep your minds out of that gutter, so podcasts get put on the back burner. Don't worry about it and enjoy your time together.
